Attendance at Hillmorton Primary School

At Hillmorton Primary School, we are committed to providing a warm, inclusive environment where every child can thrive. Good attendance is essential for children to succeed, build routines, and enjoy positive relationships.
From 19 August 2024, the DfE’s Working Together to Improve School Attendance guidance became statutory. This means all schools and local authorities must follow the national expectations for managing and improving attendance. Hillmorton Primary School will follow these processes in full.
Families may find the DfE’s Summary Table of Responsibilities for School Attendance helpful, as it explains what is expected of schools, trusts, governors, and local authorities.
We set high expectations for attendance, with a target of no more than 5 days of absence across the school year. This reflects the legal requirement for regular attendance and the strong link between attendance and long‑term achievement. More detail can be found in our Attendance Policy.
We understand that children may need to stay home when unwell. The NHS guide Is my child too ill for school? offers clear advice on common symptoms and when a child should remain at home.
Every child and family is treated with care and respect. We take a personalised approach, considering individual circumstances and offering support where needed. Our aim is to work in partnership with families so every child can attend, engage, and succeed.
