At Hillmorton Primary School, we are committed to providing a warm, inclusive environment where every child can thrive. Good attendance is essential for children to succeed, build positive routines, develop strong relationships, and achieve their full potential.

As part of our 2026/27 Attendance Plan, Come in to Connect, we are changing the way we talk about attendance. We want to focus on the reason children come to school every day: to connect.

School is a place where children connect with friendships, learning, trusted adults, activities, and experiences that help them grow. It is also where parents and carers can connect with other families, feel part of their child's learning journey, and build positive relationships that support every child's success.

Strong attendance helps children feel a sense of belonging within our school community and ensures they can make the most of every opportunity available to them. To reinforce the importance of being in school every day, Stowe Vallet Multi Academy Trust has set an ambitious target of no more than 3 days of absence across the whole school year. We recognise that this is an exceptionally high expectation, but by setting a challenging target we ensure that attendance remains at the forefront of everyone's thinking and highlight the value of every school day.

We understand that children will sometimes need to stay at home when they are genuinely unwell. The NHS guide offers clear advice on common symptoms and when a child should remain at home.

Every child and family is treated with care and respect. We take a personalised approach, considering individual circumstances and offering support where needed. We continue to follow national attendance guidance and work openly with families to help them understand the impact of absence on learning, wellbeing, and achievement.

Our aim is to work in partnership with families so that every child can attend regularly, stay connected, and thrive.
