Activity 7- Art Local and Global Landmarks

Art Week- Local and Global Landmarks

This year’s Art Week was a vibrant celebration of creativity, collaboration, and cultural discovery across the school. The theme, Local and Global Landmarks, gave pupils the opportunity to explore the world through art while deepening their understanding of both their local environment and global cultures. We were thrilled to welcome a local artist into school, who led exciting printmaking workshops inspired by some of Rugby’s most recognisable landmarks. Pupils loved working together to experiment with colour, pattern, and technique, creating a beautiful collective piece that reflects pride in our community. Each year group also took part in a special project exploring a different country.

Children researched a famous landmark from their chosen country and recreated it in the style of an artist from that region. Pupils explored diverse cultures through the eyes of artists such as Hokusai, Van Gogh, and Romero Britto. It was a brilliant opportunity to link art, geography, and history in an imaginative and hands-on way.

As part of our commitment to global citizenship and international learning, we shared our artwork with our partner schools around the world via our shared Padlet page. Pupils were excited to introduce UK landmarks to their international friends and to learn about the landmarks that are important in other countries. This cultural exchange not only broadened horizons but also helped build friendships and understanding across borders.

Art Week continues to be a highlight of the school year – bringing pupils together, sparking creativity, and connecting our curriculum with the wider world. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, teamwork, and talent shown by all our pupils. Their artwork is now proudly displayed across the school, a lasting reminder of the power of art to unite, inspire and educate.
