YEAR 5 HOME PAGE

This week we have had a super time. It has been ‘Maths Week’. We have had ‘Magic Maths’ where a man came in and completed workshops with the children.  He showed them how to square 2-digit numbers that end in a 5, complete a maths card trick, and dice games and how to make maths really fun. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.

In class we made fairy cakes, and then completed maths problems. For example we worked out the cost price for 12 cakes from the receipt from Sainsbury's. We worked out how much ingredients we would need if we wanted to make a different amount of cakes.

THE WEEK

We have been working on coordinates in class. We completed treasure maps, with some of the children making their maps using negative numbers. As you can see from the pictures the children work  well together.
